New Years is Evil

2010

Another year another pointless time to list things. I did a “fads of 2008″ post last year, but this year I can’t find any new ones. It seems like the shit just carried over from last year. Anyways, I guess this means I will write about the “Top news stories OF ALL TIME (of 2009)”

1. The Economy
Oh yes, we are still talking about the recession. Even though it was declared as being over. Well it’s not. People still claim that the economy is rough. Bullshit. If people were spending more money then there would be more money circulating. Which means more jobs. I can’t believe this shit isn’t over yet.

2. First Black President
In all honesty this is no surprise at all. It was either a black dude or a white chick. I guess people chose a black guy because they didn’t want menopausal mood swings making stupid decisions.

3. Swine Flu
My god, it’s just like the regular flu. Except this one causes less deaths a year. I remember hearing how the seasonal flu kills 20,000 a year in Canada. Swine flu deaths were below 20.

4. Michael Jackson Dies
Oh big fucking deal, people die all the time. But this is the only time when I saw all the hate for Michael Jackson disappear. He was no longer the accused child molester he once was. No, now Michael was the man who changed music forever. Make up your fucking mind people. And besides, MJ wasn’t the only person who died. The following people did too

  • Brittany Murphy
  • Billy Mays
  • Les Paul
  • Patrick Swayze

That’s all for this year folks. Stay here for another year of Rage.

Charities Are Evil

charity
Did you know there are thousands of children who don’t have families, and who can’t have a “Merry” Christmas this year? These kids have no one to go to, no gifts, no hopes, no dreams. They don’t have anything while you have it all. Why not help a child and sponsor their Christmas? All you need to do is donate money. It’s not like you need more stuff, right?

Or at least that’s what THEY say. Who are they? All the fucking charities who go around on Christmas and use the Holiday to play on people’s guilts. They make you believe that if you don’t donate to the cause, then it’s YOUR fault the children don’t have a Christmas. No, it’s not YOUR fault that the child is going to have a shitty Christmas, it’s due to hundreds of external factors which all played a part in creating the situation. You shouldn’t have to feel guilt. But these charities fuck with your mind.

I just find it incredibly retarded how your donation is going towards a “gift” for the child. If a kid doesn’t have a home or a family, I think the kid has more to worry about. The kid doesn’t need gifts, he fucking needs food and shelter. The “gift” is just a luxury item.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not some cold hearted asshole who doesn’t want to help people in times of need. But get your fucking priorities right. A fucking toy isn’t going to make some kid living on the street happy. He is still going to suffer and be hungry.

Wind Mobile Is Evil

 wind

Rogers is an evil giant in this monopolized world of cellphone carriers. A lot of companies have tried to step in to stop them. Fido was one, then it got bought out by Rogers. Then came Solo (Bell) Virgin (Bell) Koodo (Telus) but all of them are owned by the evil giants. Then today was supposed to be a magnificent day when the wireless world would be changed. Yeah, fat chance.

Wind came in and tried to change everything. They have a decent strategy but it is still lacking perfection. For starters, they use some really messed up spectrum (1700 I believe). They have all of 4 phones, which one of them is something decent. And their plans are really out of whack. Either you can get something REALLY cheap and good. Or something REALLY EXPENSIVE but good. There is no mid point. For example, with my current Rogers plan I have, I pay 45 a month for 150 mins, and 500MB. Going over to Wind, I’d have to pay 15 for Voice and 35 for UNLIMITED data. Sure I get more data, but I don’t fucking need UNLIMITED. I barely get to 200MB a month anyways.

I can see Wind being beneficial to some people, but I don’t see this current strategy satisfying everybody. Me being one of the people. This wouldn’t be a problem to me really, if they didn’t fucking advertise themselves as being “the first company for the people, by the people.” Fucking wankers.

Snow Is Evil, Ask The Professionals At SMYR

 snow

Today in Toronto we had our first major snowfall of the season. It was a long awaited moment by many high school kids hoping for a snow day. It didn’t happen. Bummer right? No, because the same people that are bitching about the lack of snow, will soon be bitching at the amount of snow.

Snow is an inconvenience, you have to wake up early, shovel the drive way, and hope to god that your street got plowed already. So you managed to get onto the main road? Enjoy the traffic! Snow slows people down and you end up being late for work. When snow does that, it’s a fucking nuisance.

I am going to admit, snow looks good (at least when it’s white.) But then I walk somewhere and I see the yellow snow, or I see snow turning black from the roads and it looks horrible. It then melts and turns into slush and splashes all over your pants. Or you end up ruining your pants from the salt. Yeah, it REALLY looks good then.

So if you like snow, go ahead and like it. Just don’t change your mind in the middle of winter and start bitching about it. I dislike it, and it’s going to stay like that.

Update: Today it took me an hour to drive somewhere it usually takes me 20 minutes. Thank you snow!

Advertising Is Evil

 commercials

Lately I’ve had a conversation with some guy who bitched about “commercials being everywhere.” I then decided to place Google Ads on my site, and now here I am writing a post about advertising. Basically this guy was complaining that he pays for his cable bill, therefore there should be no ads on TV. Now this is where the guy is a total idiot and doesn’t know how television works. The cable provider has to buy channels, from media outlets (sometimes the cable provider owns some.) Anyways, then the channel has to buy shows, and the show has to have money to get produced.

So your cable bill can be divided into this:
33% – Infrastructure/Employee cost
33% - Cost of buying channels
33% – Profit

The money made from the commercials do not go to directly towards the cable provider, rather it goes to the company offering the channel. While things would be able to work without commercials, is it really that hard to watch them? It’s not like you actually have to pay attention to them. Plus you might just learn something, like you can get rid of jogging by taking Viagara.
