With Rock Band 2 just released on the 360, I thought it would be a perfect time to rant about it. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fun game. However the fanbase of it are complete idiots.

The first thing I am going to talk about is how people “discover” bands through Rock Band, and then become large fans of the band like that. They then go into the forums and say “x is the greatest band ever.” Well, you are kind of late there, I know about x long before you did and I already knew they were a great band. Later, when I mention I like the band people assume that I play Rock Band and discovered the band like that. The tracklist in the game isn’t to make people discover bands, it’s to make people who like the band buy the game. The last thing I want is for the fanbase to be flooded with a bunch of people who don’t know two shits about music.

Next thing is Guitar Hero Aerosmith, slightly related to Rock Band. Now, WHY THE FUCK DID AEROSMITH GET A GUITAR HERO GAME. THE GUITARIST OF AEROSMITH ISN’T THAT GOOD ANYWAYS! They are an alright band because of the vocals are pretty good. However, it’s called GUITAR HERO, on Rock Band this would be alright I suppose. Now, I still think it’s retarded to base a whole game on one band.

Final thing is people who say Guitar Hero is copying Rock Band by adding microphones/drums. Uhhh? WTF!?!?!? Guitar Hero was out before Rock Band, it brought the idea of instrument base rhythm based games to the mass public. Therefore wouldn’t Rock Band have copied Guitar Hero? By your definition yes, but Rock Band was made by the former Guitar Hero team so it is not copied. Just calm down and let Guitar Hero do it’s thing.
