Shattered Memories
May 19th, 2010 by MattLast week I watched the remake of Nightmare on Elm Street. It wasn’t an amazing movie by any means but it was pretty decent. Keep in mind that I have never seen the original, nor do I want to. If the remake is cheesy, I could just imagine the original would be 5 times worse.
What really angered me about the movie were the reviews of it. The reviewers canned the movie for being “predictable and worse than the original.” Pardon me, but if you watched the original, then aren’t you going to know the story anyways? Sure, some minor things were changed but the core story remained the same. I watched the Simpsons parody of it so I kind of how the movie was going to end anways, but I didn’t blame the movie for poorly delivering the story.
It seems a lot of people (fans of the original) always bash the remake for some bullshit reason. I remember hearing “Freddie looks like a monster in the remake.” No you idiot, he looks like a burn victim.
It seems people have faded memories of this movie. Sure, it might have been really good for it’s time when it was first released. However, times have changed and releasing a movie like that in today’s world would have been a joke. Admit it, your childhood sucked
