Lazy TTC?

In a recent turn of events there have been a large amount hate for the TTC regarding their service. Sure the recent 25 cent fare-hike is a little much, but it is still cheaper than the VIVA or other transit lines. By no means is the TTC perfect, but it gets me from point A to point B. So it is all good.
In the news not too long about there was a story about a TTC booth collector being asleep on the job. I’m not going to go out and say he had a right to do that, but there must have been a reason behind it. There is no way he sleeps on the job every day, this was definitely a first time offence. Instead of kindly waking him up, some asshole decided to take a picture of it. This made everyone say “what a lazy employee” and this brought on a whole wave of complaints. There must have been an explanation for why the TTC employee was asleep, maybe he had to take his kid to the hospital that night and didn’t get any sleep. We don’t know the reason behind it, but people are so quick to judge. Not to say that it was right, but it could be forgiven.
Since then people have been recording the bus drivers on their cellphones whenever the drivers go to use the bathroom or go get coffee or whatever. I’m sure we’ve all done the same thing, we’ve all used the bathroom at work during our shift, we’ve all taken short breaks to talk to a friend or something. The TTC employees are only human. Don’t videotape the TTC employees taking a break, how would you feel if someone videotaped you while you were talking on a cellphone at work, or Googling something. Everyone slacks off, not just the TTC.
With these events, the drivers are put through so much. They’re even spit on by passengers. The amount of disrespect that goes toward the employees is shocking. People say the drivers deserve it because they are disrespectful. I have never met one TTC employee that was disrespectful, but that’s not to say that some are.
Allow me to take one person’s ignorant comment on Facebook just to prove how stupid some people are:
“Fucking TTC! “Wah, we put up with so much abuse!” FUCK THEM. It’s their jobs! If you can even call it that. They sit there and drive. They could probably go all day with out saying two words to someone getting on. And that shit about how its a fucking PRIVLEDGE to ride the ttc… taxes.. the taxes that WE pay, go to th…e fucking TTC. Or how about all the money they make off of the fares we pay. Sorry, guys, but its our RIGHT to get on a fucking bus. And its our right to get where we are going on time. You want a coffe? Bring a thermas! Selfish pricks only care for them selves.”
It’s their job to take abuse? Funny, I never heard that taking abuse can be a profession. What the fuck do you mean by “they just sit there and drive” well tell me. What the fuck is it that you do? Do you work in retail? Well all you have to do is “arrange stuff.” So we pay taxes and the fare, does that mean we have a right to take the bus? Yes. But if you don’t like it you do have other alternatives. You could take a car, you could walk, or you could bike there. The bus is offered to you as a service you don’t have to use it.
We in no means have a perfect subway service here in Toronto, but it’s good enough.

I agree with this article, and I would just like to say that everyone today is just looking for a reason to complain and judge. And they are human the TTC employees no one is perfect, even Police Officers go to grab coffee or do some of their personal stuff during their shifts. You assholes complaining don’t realize that TTC officers like Police Officers do work 12 hour shifts (Cops minimum). As well the TTC opens at fucking 5:30 A.M that means some employees have to be up at maybe even 3:00 A.M. My uncle started at the TTC when he was 18 years old and was a bus driver. He lived in Mississauga and had to drive the ossington bus usually and never got to sleep when he worked mornings. He said he would work 12 hours just about until 1. A.M and he would get home at 2-2:30 and couldnt sleep. He would just shower and leave straight for work again to be at his station to prep his bus for 5:30. I think people don’t give public transportation employees enough slack. They deal with all the fucking pricks and assholes, drunks and scum everyday of everyweek of the month. So of course they might be sour and mean but, when you are treated like shit all the time and and have to put up with the public day after day I think they deserve the most slack out of everyone besides Police Officers and some other government employees (Obviously not even close to half but enough) Sure, complain about the TTC but I agree that it is a priviledge to ride the ttc not a right. If it was a right to ride it then the attitude would be different. You can take a fucking taxi if you’re not happy with the TTC or get your ass up early and bike or if it’s snowing walk your dumb fucking ass to work or to where you go to go or car pool. No one can judge or understand the position of employees in certain jobs until they have experienced it. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover you ignorant pricks

It’s your CHOICE and PRIVILEDGE to get on a bus if you don’t like what goes on in or while getting on or off the bus dont take the fucking bus you made the choice to get on the bus so deal with the shit that comes with it the driver and employee has it harder then your possibly spoiled ass does. It’s not your right to get where you are going on time it’s your fucking responsibility to get there on time, so get your ass up earlier or find a different route if the bus driver always stops for a washroom break or a coffee break it’s HIS RIGHT TO HAVE A BREAK OR A LUNCH so fuck off how would you like yourself to be critisized when you take a break at work when you could be starving or thirsty or your bladder about to burst. If you want a coffee at work next time you bring a god damn thermus and sit your ass down not moving all day behind the wheel or behind your desk. They don’t just care about themselves they are LOOKING AFTER THEMSELVES. All you people are ignorant think before you bitch and when you have a valid point then complain. For example say someone is going through the toll at the TTC and the person inside the booth says “You know black people didn’t used to be allowed to ride in the same car as white people” or some shit like that then that is a reason to complain an employee should keep their racial comments to themselves.

I agree with this article and I don’t even live in that area. The shit people are doing and saying about it made me rage inside.
